Twenty three of Worcester’s leading swimmers travelled down to Bristol to compete in the Level 1 Aquae Sulis open meet on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th April.

As expected, the standard was exceptionally high with many of the the very best swimmers in the country taking the opportunity to get some long course (50m) racing in before the National qualifying window opens in mid March.

Worcester’s swimmers were in excellent early season form with almost 75% of swims Personal Best times!  However, medals proved much more elusive…

Sam Hall led the PB charge with some massive improvements… including a fabulous 1.14.40 for 100m Breaststroke, winning him Silver in the 13/14’s (the only Worcester medal on Saturday) and earning him a top 40 UK ranking for the first time

Fresh from a West Mids training camp the previous day, Matthew Richards and Olivia Fletcher each won 3 medals in the 11/12 age group on the Sunday… Matthew two bronze and a silver for his impressive 2.35.75 in the 200 Individual Medley, Olivia one of each colour including Silver for a super 1.03.42 in the 100m Freestyle… whilst Robin Williams, in heavy training, won Silver in the Open 100m Butterfly behind one of the many GB internationals on show!
