Swimming/Sporting Background/Achievements
I spent my early childhood either on the side of the pool watching training sessions or joining in alongside sessions with my own little schedules. As I reached competition age I progressed to full-on training before school and after school. My Dad was the head coach of a London based swim squad so competitive swimming was inevitable for me.

I gained a handful of county medals, but my greatest swimming achievement was making the finals of the Southern Counties swimming championships at Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, I missed out on my national qualifying time by 300ths of a second. My swimming training also complemented other sporting achievements and I became rather good at long distance running, representing my borough and the county all the way through secondary school and making the English schools cross country finals with my school team.

As my daughter now swims with Worcester, I thought I’d put myself to good use and am helping out with the pre-comp squads. Its great watching kids gain confidence in swimming and entering galas for the first time. I also teach a whole range of other swimming classes in Malvern; parent and baby, adults, schools and children progressing through the swim badge scheme.

Favourite stroke
Backstroke, it just feels lovely and smooth and easy to me.

Favourite set
I don’t have one yet, but I do like encouraging the youngsters to try diving off the blocks for the first time, which can be a pretty daunting thing.

3 things you couldn’t do without
1. Family
2. Hobbies; there have been many, but this year’s hobby of choice is learning the guitar
3. Planning the family’s next travel adventure (usually involves a tent)

If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Have loads of fun with my family and friends and get super fit!
