URGENT – SWIMMING CLUB CLOSURE

My email yesterday said we would remain open with some constraints, but with the advice of Swim England yesterday evening, we are now taking the difficult decision to close Worcester Swimming Club until such time as it is safe to re-open. We will monitor the governing body’s advice during our period of closure and seek to re-open as soon as practically possible.

During this time, member subs will cease. We have incurred pool hire costs and held a full programme during March to date, and as such I would ask that if your standing order has not yet gone out for March payment, that you allow it do so, and then cancel your standing order with effect from 1st April. When we restart the club, you will need to restart your standing orders.

As a committee we have worked so hard this week to try and do the right thing for the club and it’s members, and to stay open as long as possible. Pressures to close are becoming intense and the time to close is upon us. As far as I’m aware, most/all other swimming clubs in the region are still open – I suspect that as the largest club in this area, we will set the trend of closure.

During this period of closure, we hope you all do whatever is needed to protect loved ones and stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you all at the pool when we come out the other side of this worldwide disaster.

Regards
Steve Redfern – WSC Club Chairman
