Girls’ Club Captain 2019-2020

Biography

I joined Worcester  Swimming Club when I was 11 and it is the only competitive club I have ever been apart of. I started in Skill Progression , and have moved through the squads and now I really enjoy swimming in the Performance Squad.

I love competing at Open meets, County and Regional Championships, and I was extremely proud to represent the club at the British Championships this year where I was part of the  WSC Open Women’s 4x200m Freestyle relay team . We came 12th in GB and it was an amazing experience. But most of all I love competing in Team galas, the PGL league, Mercian League, Junior League , Winter League, and the National Arena league – having gone twice to Cardiff to the National Final .  Swimming is often an individual sport, and it is when I get to represent the club at a team event that I am most proud , and this is when I usually swim my best times !

I also really enjoy helping as a volunteer at the club – I have been helping with coaching for the past 18 months, and I love to see the younger swimmers improve and progress. I think it is really important to give something back to the club which has given me so much. I also passed my Level One teaching course this summer- I feel passionate about young children learning to swim, and to enjoy being in the water, and to feel confident with their swimming.

Worcester Swimming Club has been such an important part of my life- I have made many friends, and although the swimming journey can sometimes be really tough, I have learnt such a lot from my time at the club. For me, it is not so important to be the best swimmer, but to follow my own journey through hard work, perseverance and enjoyment.

I am immensely proud to be Senior Club Captain this year, and I really hope that all the swimmers can approach me as a friendly face, and someone who understands all the highs and lows of swimming ! I look forward to the year ahead, and hope that I can do a good job !
